Some cool and unique perspectives...
Great fin cam video from SUP board - unique footage of sea lions (and sharks)....
Ever wonder what it looks like underwater around the Cape Hatteras lighthouse jetties? Neither have I....until I saw this. This is an interesting piece and picture slide show about what it looks like around those old jetties. Click here for slide show
Finally, a funny article about kayak fishing....get this...in the Gulf Stream....and...get ready for this...with Hooters Girls. Here's the picture slide show....courtesy of Outer Banks windsurfer (and photographer) Donny Bowers. There are also some cool close up shots of the Diamond Shoals light tower. I've never been up close to it so this was a neat perspective.

Yes, I'm stealing the title from that hilarious take on hiking the Appalachian Trail, written by Bill Bryson. I had my own walk in the woods this morning at Crowders Mountain State Park. I went for a 7.5 mile hike with a 50 lb pack on my back. I'm actually doing some conditioning for a backcountry hiking/camping trip to Colorado next month. Crowders Mountain provided some good long inclines to really get my legs and feet going. Tonight I am feeling it...very worn out.
Crowders Mountain is only 45 minutes away from my house. North Carolina has a great state park system and all these parks are very well maintained. We're very fortunate to have this.
Anyway, a great way to start off Father's Day. I was on the trail at 8am and back home by lunchtime and spent the rest of the day with the family. The picture above was taken at the summit's overlook.

I found this at Beach Telegraph. This video is beautifully done in slow motion, giving you a real sense of just how fluid Josh Angulo rides these waves in Cabo Verde. Watch how he mostly stays squarely in the most critical section of the wave. Its a beautiful and mesmerizing thing to watch.
