The Beauty Of It All - Linville Gorge

Our family recently hiked part of the east rim of Linville Gorge in NC.  We made our way up to the top of Table Rock and found these incredible views of the Gorge - "The Grand Canyon Of The East". Some steep hiking up & down - my hip joints and knees were feeling it the next day.

It was so clear, we could see the Charlotte uptown skyline on the horizon.   That is rare, since its usually too hazy to see that far.

Appalachian Trail hike across the Roan Mountain Balds

We recently went out on a wonderful family outing to hike a portion of the Appalachian Trail along the NC/TN border and across the Roan Mountain Balds. We started out at the Carvers Gap trailhead right on the NC/TN border and followed this hike 3 miles out to Grassy Ridge Bald (& back to make it 6 miles roundtrip). It was a cloudy & chilly start but fortunately the sun burned through and gave us great light on the hike back. The rhododendron had bloomed early for us as well. The pics & video show how beautiful it was. Enjoy!
